Coral reefs are one of the potential marine resources in Indonesia that deserve attention. The purpose of this research is to understand the condition of live coral cover in each depth zone in the waters around Hoga Island and the factors that affect the coral reef conditions there. This study was conducted from January to February 2026. Based on the data obtained, the percentage of live coral cover at Station 1 was 31.1%, which falls into the moderate category; Station 2 was 67.35%, which is considered good; and Station 3 was 49.57%, which is moderate. Overall, the average live coral cover in the study area was 49.34%, so the coral reef condition in the research area is categorized as moderate. Meanwhile, water quality parameter measurements indicate that the aquatic environment at the research site remains within the appropriate range to support coral reef growth and development. Average temperatures of 28.8°C, pH 7, salinity 31.9‰, and current velocity of 0.07 m/s indicate relatively stable water conditions and no significant environmental stress. Ship anchors are one of the anthropogenic factors contributing to the destruction of coral reef ecosystems, particularly in marine tourism areas and areas frequently used for mooring ships. When anchors are dropped to the bottom, the anchor and its chain can strike coral colonies, causing the coral branches to break.
