Indonesia as a maritime country has a dynamic coastline and continues to experience changes due to natural factors, such as waves, currents, tides, and sedimentation, as well as human activities that trigger abrasion and accretion. The Banda Neira coast is an area that is vulnerable to coastline changes due to the influence of open sea conditions and high community activities. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze coastline changes during the period 2020–2025 using Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of coastline changes in the coastal area of Banda Neira, Central Maluku Regency, within a period of 6 years using remote sensing satellite imagery. This study was conducted on March 6–April 6, 2026, located on the coast of Banda Neira. This study was conducted using a remote sensing approach. Analysis of coastline changes was carried out using Sentinel-2 imagery from 2020–2025. Coastline extraction was carried out using the MNDWI method, then stacked with coastlines in other years. This research was conducted in several stages, namely data and information collection, field surveys and supporting data collection, as well as data analysis and interpretation of the research results. The results of the study indicate that changes in the coastline area in the Banda Neira coastal area as a whole, during the research period, total abrasion reached 12,209 hectares, while total accretion reached 12,459 hectares. The average abrasion was 2,441 hectares per year and the average accretion was 2,491 hectares per year.
